Statistics in R

In the development of SimpleForest various new forestry parameters have been invented.

For example the growth volume ...

or the reverse pipe branch order - the square root of supported leaves ...

but also traditional parameters like the every day used branch order.

All of the shown parameters are included in the csv files.

You should read sections 1.2 and 1.3 in the SimpleForest User Guide to get insight into the parameters' definition and utilized allometric scaling approaches used in SimpleForest. Also SimpleTree — An Efficient Open Source Tool to Build Tree Models from TLS Clouds gives a peer reviewed introduction into this topic.

Evaluation script

You can download the field volume table and the evaluation R-script for

to produce the result visible on the right. You can enlarge by clicking on the plot thumbnail. Purely with SimpleForest denoised data is available.

Analyze QSM output in R

Various ways to examine QSM csv files are possible.

For example an histogram for branch order and growth length ...

or an histogram for branch order and growth volume ...

or analyzing the distribution of branches along the height ...

as well as the stem curve ...

validating or improving the pipe model theory...

and finally building allometric functions based on a single tree.

All plots have been produced with this R script and can be enlarged by clicking on them.
